TITLE

ACCC LIVE - Takata Airbag Recall - Role of Auto Recyclers and Vehicle Manufacturers Beyond 2020

DESCRIPTION

Takata and automotive recalls are not going away.

This is an opportunity to hear directly from the ACCC in regards to automotive recalls & put your questions directly to them.

  • Find out what your responsibilities and liabilities will be post the Takata deadline in December 2020

  • What are the risks to manufacturers and auto recyclers if recalled parts are sold, prior to a recall?

  • Ask the ACCC questions directly

We will have our interactive chat open during the podcast for you to put your questions to the ACCC.

SPECIAL GUESTS:

Glenn Probyn, Executive Director | Takata Task Force | Compliance and Product Safety Division

Natalie Attrill, Director | Takata Task Force | Compliance and Product Safety Division

AGENDA:

  • Why does the recall notice finish on December 31 2020 and what happens after this date?

  • Recalls more generally - do auto recyclers need to take all recalls seriously and what are our obligations?

  • Why is it our problem at all.  We did not manufacture the part, so why is it our responsibility to deal with it?

  • We have heard that there are Compliance Officers from Fair Trading visiting auto recyclers to check if they have a recalls process in place.  Is this true?

  • As recalls can happen after the fact, that is, sometime after we may have removed an affected part and sold it, what are our obligations with these parts, seeing we did not know they were recalled at the time of sale?

  • Why is the Takata airbag recall mandatory and others are not - what is the difference?
